About UPMC

Supplier Diversity Program

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's role in community goes far beyond the superb health care services it offers: UPMC has a major economic impact on the region. As the the region's largest employer, with a work force of about 48,000 and annual revenues of $7 billion, UPMC has a regional economic impact in 2007 estimated at more than $14 billion.

As part of its commitment to the community, UPMC supports a diversity of suppliers in its preferred pool of product and service vendors. To that end, UPMC spent approximately $91.5 million last year through the minority- and women-owned business initiative.
