UPMC’s expertise is recognized nationwide. UPMC placed 13th out of 5,462 eligible hospitals in the United States in the 2007 edition of U.S.News & World Report magazine’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” ranking. The ranking recognizes institutions that perform at a very high level across many specialties. UPMC is the only local hospital to receive this distinction and in 2006 was the only hospital in Pennsylvania to earn a position on the list. The 2007 results place UPMC one notch higher than last year and mark its eighth appearance on the prestigious Honor Roll, which includes only 18 hospitals nationwide.
