In a combined clinical and academic emergency medicine program, UPMC and its partners, the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, represent one of the United States' top programs, having received recognition nationwide for efforts in research, education, critical care transport, and clinical care in the field of emergency medicine.
UPMC offers a broad range of emergency medicine-related programs and services, including emergency departments at most hospitals. The Emergency Department at UPMC Presbyterian, an adult medical/surgical referral hospital in Pittsburgh, is a full-scale Level 1 Regional Resource Trauma Center with expertise in a variety of acute medical conditions.
