Sports Medicine
Regarded as one of the world’s leading research and clinical facilities for sports medicine, the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, offers the region’s largest integrated staff of primary care sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, and other sports medicine specialists who provide the most advanced treatments for all types of sports-related injuries. Innovative treatment and rehabilitation services are offered for elite, amateur, professional, high school, collegiate, and serious recreational athletes, as well as performing artists of all levels. In addition, injury prevention and performance –enhancement programs are offered to athletes at all levels across all sporting areas.
With state-of-the-art equipment, the facility has on-site digital x-ray and state-of–the-art MRI units designed specifically for the types of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries commonly seen at the center. The diagnostic imaging equipment is filmless and instantly accessible on-site via computerized web-based images that can be stored as well as clearly transmitted for consultation anywhere in the world.
The core of the Sports Medicine program lies in its relationships with over 60 school districts, colleges, and professional teams in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Through its network of certified athletic trainers, the UPMC Sports Medicine program provides immediate injury diagnosis and referral services to all levels of medical and clinical providers within the UPMC system.
