“The shout of alarm expressed today by professor Jeffrey Romoff, President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Pittsburgh, about the possibility of transferring the Ri.MED center to Ireland should make one reflect and should lead to an immediate change of course on the part of the national government”. The President of ARS, Gianfranco Micchiche’, made this statement today about the interview given by professor Romoff to the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore. “The Prodi government”, adds Micchiche’, “has the courage to turn backwards. To not follow through on the realization of the biomedical center of Carini would be an obviously wrong choice that would lead to grave damage for our country. In fact, the Ri.MED center represents a concrete hope for the return of the many italian “brains” who today are working overseas and, at the same time, a strong injection of trust for a land that is alreadybeginning to wake itself up from a lengthy lethargic state”.

(ANSA) - PALERMO, 13 DIC - "Il grido d'allarme lanciato oggi
dal professor Jeffrey Romoff, presidente e chief executive
officer dell'Università di Pittsburgh, sulla possibilità di
trasferire in Irlanda il centro Ri.Med. deve far riflettere e
indurre a un repentino cambio di rotta da parte dell'esecutivo
nazionale". Il presidente dell'Ars Gianfranco Micciché
commenta così l'intervista rilasciata dal prof. Romoff al
quotidiano 'Il Sole 24 Ore'. "Il governo Prodi - aggiunge
Micciché - abbia il coraggio di tornare sui suoi passi. Non
dare seguito alla realizzazione del centro biomedico di Carini
sarebbe una scelta oggettivamente sbagliata che arrecherebbe un
grave danno al nostro Paese. Il centro Ri.Med. rappresenta,
infatti, una concreta speranza di rientro per quei tanti
'cervelli' italiani che oggi sono impegnati all'estero, e allo
stesso tempo una forte iniezione di fiducia per una terra che
sta cominciando a svegliarsi da un lungo letargo". (ANSA).
