If the cuts foreseen by the national Financial law are confirmed, the Ri.MED biotechnology center risks leaving Carini, in the area of Palermo, to be transferred abroad. This was confirmed by Jeffrey Romoff, the President of the Universityof Pittsburgh Medical Center, during an interview with the Sole 24 Ore.
The medical center, among the founders of the Ismett transplant center and promoter of Ri.MED, that would be responsible for the gene and regenerative medicine research, announced yesterday that it has received an offer from Ireland that it would be willing to host the center.
The former Financial law allocated 330 million euro for Ri.MED, however, theamount was not confirmed in the current economic measures.

FINANZIARIA:,RIMED FORSE TRASFERITO IN IRLANDA
(ANSA) - PALERMO, 13 DIC - Se i tagli previsti dalla
Finanziaria nazionale dovessero essere confermati, il centro di
biotecnologie Ri.Med rischierebbe di lasciare Carini, nel
palermitano, ed essere trasferito all'estero. Lo ha affermato,
Jeffrey Romoff, presidente dell'University of Pittsburgh medical
center in un'intervista al Sole 24 ore.
Lo scienziato, tra i fondatori del centro trapianti Ismett,
promotore del Ri.Med, che si occuperebbe di studi di genetica e
medicina rigenerativa, ha annunciato di avere ricevuto
un'offerta dall'Irlanda che si sarebbe detta disponibile ad
ospitare il centro.
La scorsa Finanziaria aveva stanziato per il Ri.Med 330
milioni di euro ma la somma non è stata confermata nell'attuale
