Thomas E Rudy, M.D.


Thomas E. Rudy, M.D. is professor in the departments of anesthesiology and psychiatry, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and professor in the department of biostatistics, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. He also is research director in the Pain Evaluation and Treatment Institute at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

His research interests include clinical trials in the treatment of persistent pain conditions, application of multivariate statistical models to the assessment of chronic pain patients, functional capacity testing of patients with medical disabilities, and the use of modern psychometric theory to improve pain assessment and treatment outcome determination.

Dr. Rudy received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Goshen College, Goshen, Ind., in 1974, and his master's and Ph.D. degrees in counseling psychology and quantitative methods from the University of Notre Dame, in 1980 and 1983.
