Skull Base Tumors
Our physicians at the Center for Cranial Base Surgery of the UPMC Department of Otolaryngology and the UPMC neurosurgeons have developed a powerful new surgical technique that enables lifesaving operations, once thought impossible, to be performed. Called endonasal (through the nose) surgery, this method can reach tumors, aneurysms, or disease affecting the base of the skull or tissues deep within the brain. Our highly effective, minimally invasive endonasal technique spares the patient the trauma of disfiguring facial surgery and dramatically reduces recovery time.
The diagnosis of cancer and treatment options can be overwhelming. Our Head and Neck Cancer division provides excellent patient care using a multidisciplinary format in order to seek the most favorable outcomes, as well as the latest and most effective treatments to our patients. To help alleviate unnecessary stress, UPMC offers several patient services to provide support and create the most comfortable environment possible. Any tumor, benign or malignant, located in an area between the head and neck can be treated by the UPMC Division of Head and Neck Cancer
