UPMC Voice Center

The UPMC Voice Center is dedicated to the evaluation and care of voice disorders. We offer a unique resource for both the general public and those who use their voices professionally. The center offers a combination of behavioral, medical, and surgical approaches in treating various voice disorders. Since voice disorders are often signs of other medical problems, the Voice Center staff consults with specialists in gastroenterology, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, psychology, and other disciplines.

Division of Speech-Language Pathology

The goal of the Division of Speech-Language Pathology is to provide the highest quality evaluation and treatment for patients who have speech, cognitive, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.

Our team of speech-language pathologists is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).  All practice clinicians hold master’s degrees and are licensed by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Foreign Accent Modification Program

Accent modification is a systematic method for changing speech patterns, including pronunciation, voice production, intonation, and rhythm. The Division of Speech-Language Pathology offers a 13-week program with the goal of helping individuals with mild or strong foreign accents, or who need general speech improvement, to develop clear English pronunciation.  The program is designed for individuals whose accents affect their communication in work and social settings. Our commitment is to help you develop greater confidence and competence in your business and personal communications.
