Voice Analysis Laboratory

The voice care team uses the laboratory to evaluate the voice signal in terms of pitch, loudness, and quality, as well as to measure the aerodynamic parameters and breathing dynamics.


  • Aerodynamic analysis
    This technology measures laryngeal airflow, air pressure, and intensity during voice production. This measurement allows for the analysis of breath use, laryngeal control, and vocal efficiency during phonation (sound production). Aerodynamic assessment reflects the physiology of vocal cord opening and closing.

  • Acoustic analysis
    This analysis is the measurment of sound from the voice box. Acoustics is a division of physics devoted to the study of sound production. Acoustic analysis allows one to objectify elements heard in the voice: pitch, loudness, and quality (e.g., hoarseness).
