SimpleDICOM

SimpleDICOM is a suite of free, downloadable, vendor-independent software applications that address the peripheral tasks not generally included in commercial picture archiving and communication system (PACS) implementations.

SimpleDICOM was developed by the Radiology Informatics Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh to fill gaps in the functionality of the institution’s first-generation PACS. Much of the functionality already has been incorporated into modern PACS, but the software remains available for free download.

  1. SimpleDICOM Viewer displays DICOM images outside the PACS environment.

  2. SimpleDICOM Sender extracts images from outside CDs and sends them to the hospital PACS.

  3. SimpleDICOM Wrapper imports non-radiologic images into the PACS.

  4. SimpleDICOM Receiver de-identifies and stores DICOM objects.

Taken together, these four productivity tools are called the SimpleDICOM Suite.

We’re sorry … the SimpleDICOM Suite is temporarily unavailable for download, but we are working to restore it. Please check back.
