Organizations
Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force
Provides services to people living with HIV in southwestern Pennsylvania. Client services include case management, homeless program, volunteer “buddy” program, emergency funds, food pantry, legal services, transportation assistance, therapeutic massage, and pet-care program. Shepherd Wellness Community
A supportive community of people affected by HIV. Weekly dinners, support groups, social activities, transportation assistance, monthly newsletter, and spiritual support are among their activities. 412-683-4477.
Southwestern Pennsylvania Regional Planning Coalition
Regional network of organizations committed to meeting the needs of people affected by HIV disease and preventing further spread of the epidemic. Memberships are open to people in an 11-county region. Toll-free 1-888-379-3755.
Persad
Provides comprehensive mental health services to sexual minorities and people affected by HIV-AIDS. 412-441-9786.
The Seven Project, Inc
Provides self-help groups for people infected and affected by HIV; also offers social events, outreach, and prevention services. A social worker offers mental health services for people living with HIV. This is the only minority-owned AIDS service organization in this region. 412-325-1073.
Pitt Treatment Evaluation Unit (PTEU)
Research center, offering still-experimental treatments for HIV infection and related illnesses. PTEU offers innovative treatments to volunteers who agree to be enrolled in clinical trials. 412-647-8215 or, toll-free, 1- 888-396-7838.
Case Management
Case managers can provide support and help you find the services you need. They are aware of programs and sources of funding to help with a variety of needs, including housing, transportation, and nutrition. If you need to apply for disability, they can help with the process. Case management services are available to everyone. If you are on medical assistance and are AIDS-diagnosed or HIV-symptomatic, you may be eligible for increased services through a state program called targeted case management.

AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP)
Each state has an AIDS drug assistance program to help with the cost of HIV-related drugs. The income guidelines and drugs covered are different for each state. If you have questions, ask your social worker or call one of these programs:
