T-Tube Cholangiogram

When your gallbladder was removed, a special tube known as a T-tube was inserted into the duct that connects your liver to your small intestine. The T-tube cholangiogram (ko-LAN-jee-o-gram) is an x-ray examination of this passage.

There is no special preparation for this test. However, your doctor may order intravenous (IV) antibiotics for you before the examination.

During the test, a contrast dye is injected through the T-tube and x-rays are taken. The test usually takes one hour to complete.

After the test, your doctor will discuss the results with you.
