Located in the world-renowned medical community of Pittsburgh, UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing is surrounded by some of the finest medical professionals in the country. This stimulating environment, complemented by state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, provides a wealth of resources for the nursing student. In this atmosphere, UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing offers the following advantages:

Curriculum
Emphasis is placed on a strong clinical program, built on a foundation of humanities and behavioral and natural sciences. The clinical program is provided by UPMC Shadyside and other local hospitals and health agencies. Through critical thinking, problem solving, and communication, the nursing student is taught to adapt to the demands of health care in the future.

Faculty
Coming from all aspects of health care, Shadyside instructors are nurse practitioners, clinical experts, and hospital-based researchers as well as career educators. With a faculty-student ratio of 1:8 in many of our clinical courses, we are able to ensure our experienced instructors can individualize instruction for our students.

Support and Guidance
Assigned faculty and student mentors lend support and encouragement to nursing students throughout the program.
