Diabetes and Endocrinology
The Lions Diabetes Center at UPMC McKeesport serves as a resource for both the hospital and the community. We offer diabetes self-management education and resources for people with diabetes and their significant others in collaboration with their physicians. Additionally, we provide periodic screenings and diabetes education programs for the community, as well as diabetes education services for inpatients.
Diabete Education Sessions
Diabetes Education Sessions help individuals and their significant others affected by diabetes to better manage their disease by promoting healthier lifestyles. This diabetes patient education program has been awarded Recognition by the American Diabetes Association in accordance with the National Standards for Diabetes Education Programs, and works in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Institute as one of its Pittsburgh Regional Initiative for Diabetes Education (PRIDE) partners.
By attending these sessions, participants will learn more about monitoring their own blood glucose, managing their disease through healthy eating and activity, preventing complications, safe use of medications, healthier coping strategies, setting goals, and much more.
Fees for the sessions are reimbursable by most insurance plans. Group Diabetes Education Sessions are offered monthly. Individual sessions offered by appointment. Please call 412-664-3055 for more information and to schedule.
