Obstetrics and Gynecology
This clerkship in general obstetrics and gynecology is offered for a four- or six-week duration throughout the year.
The clerkship offers hands-on experience that is tailormade to meet the needs of the medical students and includes the delivery room, gynecologic surgery, and the Women’s Health Outpatient Center. More than 1,400 deliveries are performed annually at UPMC Mercy. The attending physicians provide 24-hour in-house coverage, seven days a week. More than 1,500 gynecologic procedures are completed annually by the department, many utilizing advanced techniques of laparoscopic surgery. The Women’s Health Outpatient Center is supervised by attending physicians in obstetrics and gynecology, with perinatology services available.
