As UPMC’s tertiary care center north of Pittsburgh, this state-of-the-art hospital offers UPMC’s brand of world-class medical care at two convenient campuses in McCandless and Cranberry to serve the communities and counties north of the city.
This means advanced, high-quality care and all of the resources of an academic medical center are now available closer to residents north of Pittsburgh. And with strong specialty programs in heart care, cancer care, orthopaedics, and spine surgery at the McCandless campus; a Comprehensive Breast Center and state-of-the-art Imaging Center at the Cranberry campus; a truly patient-and-family-centered atmosphere; and expansion projects under way at both hospital campuses, UPMC Passavant is demonstrating its commitment to excellence in patient care today and building on that commitment to offer our patients excellent health care in the future.

From the moment you arrive at the front entrance of UPMC Passavant, you’ll notice something decidedly different – valet parking, a concierge to greet you, bellhop services, and natural light flowing through the many windows. And everywhere, smiling, welcoming faces.
It’s all part of our effort to create a truly patient-and-family-centered environment, one that will ease patients’ minds, make them feel welcomed and cared for and, we hope, positively impact the healing process.
It begins with finding the right people to provide patient care – people who are friendly, caring, and willing to give that extra effort to provide a higher level of service to our patients. Then we train our staff to offer family-focused care. This means recognizing that a person’s health affects not just him or her, but immediate and extended family as well. It all converges when we make sure that the entire family feels included and welcome and that their needs are met, too.
At Your Service
As part of our effort to create a patient-and-family-centered atmosphere, UPMC Passavant offers Concierge Services. This unique program offers an impressive array of resources, including a dedicated team of staff who are able to provide assistance at a moment’s notice. Concierge Services are especially helpful to our out-of-town patients and families who may need assistance during their stay. Our professionals can help with driving directions, hotel accommodations, and any special needs. They are often waiting at the door to greet the family when they arrive, and they assist the patient and family throughout their stay.

Evolving to Enhance Care:
Expansion and Construction Projects
UPMC Passavant continually evolves to offer state-of-the-art medical and surgical services in equally state-of-the-art facilities. With an eye to the future, UPMC Passavant recently has undertaken several expansion and new construction projects to enhance patient care.
UPMC Passavant — McCandless
The tower expansion project is a seven-story, 188,000-square-foot addition, designed to create a state-of-the-art facility focused on advanced tertiary services, while improving patient and family access and flow throughout the building. These changes will provide a solid foundation for future growth. The first three floors of the addition will include expanded UPMC Cancer Center areas, the Emergency Department, and brand new ORs. The remaining four floors will expand the hospital’s inpatient capacity by adding intensive care, progressive care, and medical/surgical beds.
UPMC Passavant — Cranberry
An expanded Emergency Department at UPMC Passavant — Cranberry will include a unique child-focused model of care developed in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Construction is expected to be completed in 2008.
