Accommodations
Family House, established in 1983, is a non-profit licensed organization that provides a special ‘home away from home’ for patients and their families who must travel to Pittsburgh for treatment of serious or life-threatening illnesses. By providing a supportive, home-like environment, Family House strives to make a difference in the quality of the families’ lives while they are in Pittsburgh. Located in the Oakland and Shadyside sections of Pittsburgh, Family House operates four free-standing houses (Family House Shadyside, Family House McKee, Family House Neville and Family House University Place) with a total of 160 guest rooms. ATM Machine
A PNC bank machine is available in the first floor main lobby across from the registration desk.
Cafeteria
Located on the ground floor of the hospital. The Cafeteria offers daily specialty items, a pasta and pizza station, lite fare, soup and salad bar, deli sandwiches, and full grill. You may dial 4040 from any phone and hear the daily menu offering on our menu line.

Lunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 to 7 p.m
Holidays: 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Chapel/Meditation Room/Healing Garden
Located on the first floor near Professional Building 9102, the Chapel is open 24 hours. There is also a healing garden located near the Chapel, and a meditation room on the third floor, East Wing, near the Intensive Care Unit. Your own minister, priest, or rabbi is welcome. A Catholic Sister, assigned to UPMC Passavant by the Diocese, ministers to Roman Catholic patients. To make a request dial 412-367-6707 and we will notify your personal clergy.
Coffee Shop
The Coffee Shoppe is located on the first floor, near the Main Entrance. The Coffee Shoppe offers full breakfast menu, salads, tasty sandwiches, and grilled items.

6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; Holiday hours vary.
Concierge Services
Located in the main lobby of the hospital, our concierge service is available for you and your family between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Concierge may help you with listings of local restaurants, hotels, shopping in the area, local church schedules, driving directions, dry cleaning needs, stamps, notary services, and transportation information.
- For urgent, non-medical needs after hours (accommodations, meals, etc.) please contact any staff member.
- Valet Parking is available at the Hospital’s Main Entrance and Medical Professional Building during peak hours for a $2 charge.
Courtesy Page
Courtesy pagers are available in various departments. Courtesy Page allows you to move about the hospital and signals you when it’s time to return to the patient care area to receive a status report.
Fran's Place
Located on the first floor of the 9104 Professional Building. Fran's Place features continental breakfast selections, a cappuccino machine, and prepared sandwiches and soups. Vending machine area also.

7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Gift Shop
Located on the first floor, the gift shop offers a variety of personal amenities, giftware, fresh flowers, cards, magazines, and disposable cameras.

9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Noon to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
closed on holidays.
Internet Service
Broadband Internet access is available for hospital patients and their families, compliments of UPMC Passavant. Your computer’s Network Connect TCP/IP properties must be setup to “Obtain an IP address automatically” setting. For Assistance, please contact the Information Services Helpdesk, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These services may be accessed in the following areas:

Located in the main hospital lobby by registration is available for health information and also provides access to medically relevant websites for information on a variety of health issues.

Located at the main entrance, representatives are available to direct you and assist you with any special needs.
Medical Library
Located on the first floor of the hospital near Physical Therapy. The Library's collection ranges from easy to understand books to the latest medical research via the internet.

Patient Relations
Concerns may arise during a hospital stay. Your nurse and the nursing unit director are available to address your concerns and should be your first point of contact. When other departments are involved, they can reach the appropriate director to resolve the issue.
Patient Relations is available to assist when resolution of an issue cannot be accomplished with the nurse or unit director. The Patient Relations phone number is 412-367-6863.
Billing questions and issues requiring clarification of the billing process are managed by Patient Business Services. For questions or comments about your bill, call Patient Business Services at 1-800-854-1745.

UPMC Passavant is accredited by The Joint Commission. Room Service Information
At Your Request is an innovative new concept in patient meal services. While striving to achieve the highest level of patient care possible, At Your Request now gives the patient more flexibility.
- With At Your Request, a patient may order a meal when
he or she feels like eating.
- Patients may order up to three meals in advance.
- Family members may take our menu home and place orders
using the outside number provided on the menu.
- Patients receive a complimentary newspaper each morning.
SingSpiration
If you love music and find that it comforts and strengthens you, a bedside hymn could be just the thing for you. Call Volunteer Services at 412-367-6581 and a volunteer singer will honor your request as soon as it can be arranged.
Vending Machines
Vending machines are located on the first floor near the Emergency Department and in the Cafeteria on the ground floor.
Visiting Hours
The hospital has established visiting hours for the comfort of our patients. Physicians or nursing personnel, depending on the patient’s needs, may extend these hours.

Smoke-Free Environment
To protect our patients, visitors, and staff from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke, smoking is not permitted anywhere on UPMC property. All UPMC hospitals, facilities, and grounds, including parking lots and garages, are smoke-free as of July 1, 2007. UPMC has no designated smoking areas. If you choose to smoke, you cannot do so on the UPMC campus. A patient who smokes does so against our advice and assumes the risk for any consequences.

Valuables
The Public Safety Department strongly recommends that patient valuables be taken home or given to a family member. If this is not possible, please ask your nurse to assist you in having your items placed in the cashier’s safe until a family member can retrieve them. The hospital will not take responsibility for lost items.
