Reproductive endocrinologist to discuss irregular cycles, relationship to polycystic ovaries
Hermitage, Pa. — Robert Collins, MD, reproductive endocrinologist with the Magee Center for Fertility and Reproductive Endocrinology–North, will present “Why are My Cycles Irregular? Is it Polycystic Ovaries?” Thursday, Nov. 4, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon. This lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome, also known as PCOS, is an endocrine disorder in which immature egg follicles in the ovaries turn into cysts. Dr. Collins will discuss PCOS and its relationship to abnormal menstrual periods, unwanted hair growth, acne, ovarian polyps, and infertility, as well as insulin issues and treatment options for the syndrome. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.
This lecture is the third in a series of three women’s health lectures held this fall at the Womancare Center.
