UPMC Horizon receives Highmark QualityBlue award
Farrell and Greenville, PA - UPMC Horizon’s continued commitment to patient safety and high-quality care recently was recognized by Highmark’s QualityBlue Pay-for-Performance Program.
The hospital received an award for its efforts in reducing and preventing Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) transmission and infection in Fiscal Year 2009.
The goal of the program was to implement process improvement strategies designed to prevent and reduce MRSA transmission and infection including early recognition of at-risk patients, hand hygiene practices, education, contact isolation, patient room cleaning, and adherence to mechanisms to measure and report the incidence of MRSA.
