MERP to open location in Greenville
GREENVILLE, May 23, 2011– The Medical Equipment Recycling Program (MERP) will open an office in Greenville Monday, June 6.
The new office location is in the former STAT MedEvac building at 103 N. Main St., across the street from UPMC Horizon’s Greenville campus. The office will be open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A grand opening celebration is planned for late summer.
The Shenango Valley office, located adjacent to UPMC Horizon’s Shenango Valley campus, will continue to operate five days a week.
Funded by a grant from the UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation, MERP provides refurbished medical equipment to residents in UPMC Horizon’s service area who do not have insurance or the means to purchase new medical equipment. During its decade in existence, MERP has distributed more than 5,000 pieces of medical equipment to people in need. MERP was recently recognized by UPMC in its annual Sustainable Health Care Innovation Competition, a system-wide contest that welcomed ideas on how to make health care more environmentally friendly.
MERP accepts donations of used medical equipment as well as monetary donations. For more information about MERP, call 724-983-8737 for the Shenango Valley office or 724-373-1997 for the Greenville office.
