UPMC Urgent Care at Hermitage to open Aug. 29; Clinic will house UPMC Horizon Occupational Medicine program
HERMITAGE, July 13, 2011– UPMC will open a full-service, walk-in urgent care clinic in Hermitage Monday, Aug. 29.
UPMC Urgent Care at Hermitage will be modeled after similar UPMC Urgent Care Centers operating in the Pittsburgh area. However, the Hermitage site will also house UPMC Horizon’s Occupational Medicine program, which will consolidate to one location.
The center will operate seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offer immediate care for conditions such as colds, sore throats, earaches, and the flu; minor injuries including simple fractures, sprains and strains, and cuts and scrapes; and other conditions including but not limited to skin rashes, insect bites, asthma and allergies, and infections.
The center will also offer physicals, flu shots, and onsite x-ray and laboratory services. A physician will be on site at all times. Staff at UPMC Urgent Care will communicate with a patient’s personal physician post-treatment regarding follow up care.
UPMC Horizon Occupational Medicine, which provides employee health services to UPMC Horizon employees and approximately 300 business clients in the region, will also begin seeing patients at UPMC Urgent Care at Hermitage on Aug. 29. Occupational Medicine’s services include pre-employment physicals, substance abuse screenings, immunizations, and treatment for work-related illnesses and injuries.
The opening of UPMC Urgent Care at Hermitage follows the successful launch last fall of the After Hours Clinic at the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, also located in Hermitage. The After Hours Clinic will see patients through Friday, Aug. 26, and then the service will transition to UPMC Urgent Care at Hermitage.
