Bariatric surgeon to host free information seminar
Franklin, Pa. — Christopher J. Myers, MD, bariatric and general surgeon with UPMC Horizon, will host a free bariatric surgery information session Monday, March 8 at 5 p.m. at UPMC-Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Associates, 44 Circle St., Franklin,
He will discuss indications for weight loss surgery, types of weight loss surgery procedures, and the outcomes and benefits of weight loss surgery.
Dr. Myers is a graduate of the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland. He completed surgical residencies at the Cleveland Clinic, the Mayo Clinic, and UPMC Mercy, and recently completed a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C. During his fellowship, he co-authored two book chapters, several abstracts, and manuscripts dealing with bariatric surgery. Some of his research activities have been presented at national bariatric and minimally invasive surgery conferences. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He performs minimally invasive bariatric and general surgery at UPMC Horizon.
