Magee-Womens Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers
The Magee-Womens Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers, part of the Women's Cancer Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, is on the leading edge of research, diagnosis, and treatment for cancers of the uterus, ovaries, cervix, vulva, and fallopian tubes.
About Us
Every year, more than 82,000 American women are diagnosed with gynecologic (reproductive) cancers. Gynecologic cancers occur in a woman’s reproductive organs, including the cervix, ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, vagina, and vulva. The goal of the Gynecologic Cancer Program of UPMC Cancer Centers at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC is to help women maintain gynecologic health, and when necessary, to provide early cancer detection and individualized intervention. Tests and procedures used by the program to diagnose gynecologic cancer include:
- Pap smear
- pelvic exam
- endometrial tissue sample
- ultrasound
- computed tomography (CT) scan
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan
- positron emission tomography (PET) scan
