Three Prominent Surgeons to Join UPMC
PITTSBURGH, October 6, 2008 — UPMC today announced that physicians M. Lance Weaver, M.D., James Valuska Jr., M.D., and Thomas Lheureau, M.D., will join UPMC on Feb. 1, 2009. Formerly, they were affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.
Drs. Weaver, Valuska and Lheureau are well known and highly respected general surgeons in the western Pennsylvania region. They will establish a new practice, Northern Area Surgical Associates, to be based at UPMC Passavant Cranberry and UPMC Horizon.

Dr. Weaver received his medical training at the Medical College of Ohio; Dr. Valuska received his medical training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine; and Dr. Lheureau received his medical training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. All completed their residencies at Allegheny General Hospital.
