UPMC Northwest Names New President
PITTSBURGH, December 19, 2008 — David P. Gibbons, M.H.A., R.N., will join UPMC Northwest as president, effective March 2, 2009.
Mr. Gibbons will come to UPMC Northwest from Kennedy Health System in Voorhees, NJ, near Philadelphia, where he serves as vice president of operations. In his current role, he is responsible for the daily operations of the system’s three hospitals.
Before joining Kennedy in 1997, he was director of managed care for the Visiting Nurses Association of Greater Philadelphia; regional director of operations, marketing and finance for Oncology Services Inc.; and held several clinical posts with U.S. Healthcare in Blue Bell, PA.
The appointment is a homecoming for Mr. Gibbons, who is a Venango County native and was a nurse at Northwest Medical Center from 1986 to 1992.
He holds an associate degree in nursing and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Clarion University, and a master’s degree in health administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
“We are confident that UPMC Northwest will continue to thrive and grow under David’s excellent organizational and leadership skills,” said UPMC Northwest board chairman, Keith Pemrick, and senior vice president of UPMC regional hospitals, David Martin, in announcing the appointment.
