MEDIA ADVISORY/PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:

UPMC Named ‘Patriotic Employer’ by National Guard and Reserve Force

WHAT: The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve will present UPMC with the Patriotic Employer Award for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.

WHO: Presenting the Patriotic Employer Award will be Admiral Timothy Moon, Director of Maritime Partnership Programs – U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa. Admiral Moon is responsible for six units in the Maritime Partnership Program.

Accepting on behalf of UPMC will be Anna Roman, Ph.D., senior vice president, Administrative Services and Physician Relations, University of Pittsburgh Physicians; and Lisa Bonacci, vice president, Department of Human Resources, UPMC.

WHERE: Forbes Tower, 11th floor board room, 3600 Meyran Ave., Oakland

WHY: UPMC is a reverent supporter of its employees who are active service members. Since 2002, its enhanced military leave policy has supported UPMC employees in the military and was designed to benefit employees who are called to active duty. Eligible employees are paid the difference between their military pay and UPMC base wage to a maximum payment of $5,000 per month for up to five years of active duty service. In the last five years alone, UPMC provided more than $1.5 million in enhanced pay to employees under this policy.
