Pitt School of Pharmacy to Celebrate Student Pharmacists with White Coat Ceremony

WHAT: Dr. Gordon J. Vanscoy White Coat Ceremony, marking student pharmacists’ entry into the profession

WHO: University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy faculty, students and their families

WHEN: 3 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, 2012

WHERE: University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, Scaife Hall, Lecture Room 6, Oakland

WHY: The ceremony is a symbolic event marking the entry of first-year students into the pharmacy profession. At the ceremony, students are individually garbed in a white clinician’s coat and publicly declare their commitment to integrity, ethical behavior and honor by reciting the pledge of professionalism.

At this year’s ceremony, 107 students will receive their white coats. The ceremony is named for Gordon J. Vanscoy, PharmD, associate dean for business innovation and associate professor of pharmacy and therapeutics at Pitt’s School of Pharmacy
