Some of our faculty were instrumental in the development of minimally invasive thoracic surgical techniques. Today, our surgeons continue to evaluate and refine these surgical approaches for the benefit of patients. |
The Division of General and Trauma Surgery at UPMC offers world-class comprehensive trauma care as well as general surgery procedures by a team of experts who work together in the study, development, and implementation of new procedures and devices. The division encompasses one of the busiest and most advanced trauma centers in the region as well as specialty surgical programs, such as the Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery Program (based at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC) and the UPMC Minimally Invasive Colon Surgery Center. |

The Division of Pediatric General and Thoracic Surgery at UPMC provides comprehensive care to infants and children of all ages via Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Service is provided 24 hours a day and includes diagnosis, consultation, management, and follow-up of inpatients and outpatients. |
The mission of the Division of Surgical Oncology is to provide state-of-the-art surgical care to the patient with cancer. With 16 surgical oncologists who have diverse expertise in all types of cancers, the department provides the most up-to-date specialized care for patients suffering with cancer. |
