Prostate and Urologic Cancers
UPMC Cancer Centers’ urologic surgeons have extensive expertise in the surgical management of prostate and urologic cancers. Through the Comprehensive Prostate and Urologic Cancer Center, we strive to provide state-of-the-art treatments and therapies for those with prostate and urologic cancers, to be an educational resource for patients and the community, and to provide an environment that stimulates excellence in prostate and urologic cancer research.
Urological Comprehensive Care Program
The Urological Comprehensive Care Program is designed so that all activities associated with care are handled in the same location, from admission to surgery to discharge, with the same nurses focused on each individual patient. The center was modeled after another popular patient-centered structure — the obstetric birthing center. The Urological Comprehensive Care Program streamlines continuity of care by giving nurses bigger roles in each patient’s visit. The same caregiver plays an integral part in the patient’s care from beginning to end, which is very satisfying to both nurse and patient.
UPMC Kidney Stone Center
The UPMC Department of Urology-UPMC Kidney Stone Center is a multidisciplinary clinic that treats and manages kidney stone disease over the long term. It is
geared toward patients who have previously had stone surgery or passed a
stone spontaneously.
