Institute for Rehabilitation and Research

Helping to Make Every Day Independence Day.

Every day at the UPMC Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (IRR) we see people gain their independence. We see them come back from the effects of a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, and other illnesses or injuries.

We're the hub of one of the country's largest and most comprehensive rehabilitaiton networks. In fact, UPMC has more than 70 rehabilitation facilities offering inpatient, outpatient, and long-term services.

The IRR combines clinical care and research to benefit patients with a variety of rehabilitation needs. Research plays a very important role in our mission at the IRR. We focus research on the areas where there is the greatest need and the greatest potential to increase and enhance recovery and quality of life for our patients.

The discoveries we make and the cutting-edge care provided by our integrated patient care teams are felt throughout our entire rehablitation network — to make each day Independence Day for our patients and their families.

The clinicians at the IRR are making a difference — daily — in the lives of people with disabilities. Lend your support to the IRR.
