Patient Services

When you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer there are several services that UPMC offers to help make the diagnosis and treatment process easier. Being treated for cancer can be a difficult time for a family; reaching out for support can be a rewarding and beneficial experience. The following are UPMC and community cancer related support services:

Family House

Out-of-town families of patients who are receiving evaluation or treatment for serious or life-threatening illness have access to convenient and affordable temporary housing through Family House of Pittsburgh. There are Family Houses in both Oakland and Shadyside that will be able to accommodate family members while in Pittsburgh. Education and Counseling

UPMC offers a cancer education and information resource center along with psychological support services.

Support Groups

UPMC sponsors patient and family support groups and provides access to several community support organizations.
