Vascular and Interventional Radiology
The vascular and interventional radiology division performs all non-neuroradiographic angiographic, venographic, and interventional radiological procedures. Some of the cutting-edge procedures offered include uterine fibroid embolization, carotid stent placement, and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms. Over the last few years, the interventional division has also become actively involved with the placement of central venous access catheters including PICC lines, triple lumen catheters, and tunneled dialysis catheters. These and the full gamut of interventional procedures are performed by faculty who are all fellowship-trained and have excellent safety records. Recent and planned facility updates have provided the group with new angio suites and the latest equipment available.
In addition to its clinical productivity, the division is active in research, and faculty are currently involved in a number of experimental clinical studies, including studies with the Division of Vascular Surgery and the Division of Transplantation Surgery. Vascular and interventional radiology is based at UPMC Presbyterian.
