It’s Your Time to Enjoy Life
People consider retirement living for a variety of reasons. It offers a lifestyle that promotes health and wellness, eliminates the burdens of home ownership, and can provide security or an alternative to living alone. UPMC Senior Communities offer well-appointed residences with different levels of support. Our staff will work with seniors and their loved ones to find the right residence to fit their individual needs. When you’re ready to make the change to comfortable, worry-free surroundings, UPMC Senior Communities give you peace of mind, style, comfort, and value in a beautiful home that meets your needs. Whether the best choice for you is independent retirement, assisted living, or skilled care, UPMC Senior Communities provide exceptional, affordable living options in 16 Pittsburgh area locations.
Independent Living – This is a good choice of retirement housing for seniors who don’t need help with their daily routines, but who want to be part of an active community of their peers. At our independent living facilities, you can choose from a variety of floor plans, and you can bring your own furnishings and car – even a pet. The residences provide nearly everything else, from social events to delicious meals. All housekeeping and maintenance is included.
Assisted Living – Assisted living is for those who need help with activities of daily living, but do not require continuous nursing care. Assisted living may include help with medications, bathing, eating, walking, and getting in and out of bed. Our assisted living facilities offer the privacy of apartment living with the reassurance of nursing staff on duty all day, every day. In addition, some of our assisted living facilities offer special memory support programming.
Memory Support – For those residents dealing with short-term memory loss and dementia-related illnesses, including Alzheimer’s disease, specialized memory support services are available.
Skilled Nursing – This level of care is for those who need 24-hour nursing care and assistance with more than three activities of daily living. Routine dental, vision, and podiatry care is available at each residence, and other medical specialists are on call to attend to residents’ needs at any time.
Continuing Care Retirement Communities – These offer housing and services at multiple levels of care, typically on one campus. Services can include maintenance-free homes, assisted living apartments, skilled nursing care, and memory support, as well as meals, housekeeping, transportation, and 24-hour security. Some communities, including our own Sherwood Oaks, offer Life Care. Life Care insures that additional long-term care services are provided for virtually no additional fee. These communities also may offer amenities like swimming pools, fitness facilities, and personal trainers.
