The Division of General and Trauma Surgery at UPMC offers world-class comprehensive trauma care as well as general surgery procedures.
The Trauma Program at UPMC offers services that include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and surgical intervention for a variety of disease processes. To better meet the needs of our patients, we have begun to offer our surgical services in many locations in the community.
General Surgery
The Division of General Surgery provides minimally invasive surgery to treat obesity and a range of abdominal conditions. Our surgeons provide treatment for colon and gallbladder disease as well as complex abdominal hernias. Our Center for Minimally Invasive Colon Surgery Center provides expert laparoscopic surgical techniques to treat disease of the colon and rectum, offering patients state-of-the-art technology and excellent care.
The division also encompasses the Minimally Invasive Bariatric and General Surgery Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, which continues to treat high volumes of bariatric surgery patients and offers gastric bypass and laparoscopic banding using minimally invasive techniques.
While many of our patients are generally referred by their primary care physician or another specialist, patients may self-refer by calling and scheduling an appointment at the location of their choice.
