Face Transplantation
Based on our expanding expertise in nerve regeneration research and experience in solid organ and hand transplants, the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UPMC has embarked upon a novel clinical study on face transplantation.
In close collaboration with the Starzl Transplantation Institute, the face transplant study seeks to reduce the use of immunosuppressive drugs and their damaging side effects for patients.
