Urology Residency Program
The Urology Residency Program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) consists of 2 years of General Surgery with rotations tailored for ideal pre-urology training followed by 4 years of urology. Persons with an interest and capacity for contributing to urologic surgery in an academic environment are sought and will be encouraged and supported. Many exciting changes have taken place since the creation of the Department of Urology at UPMC. Faculty recruitment has increased the clinical staff from 5 to 15 with 93 percent, subspecialty training. The breadth and number of cases has expanded dramatically. Research funding has increased 13-fold with the addition of a dedicated research director, numerous PhD faculty, and two large well-equipped basic science laboratories within the department. A new curriculum has broadened education to all areas of urology and new conferences taught by experts in uroradiology and genitourinary pathology have been initiated. We hope that you have a chance to browse our website and then visit our department to learn more about the outstanding opportunities for resident education.
