Cravings and Hunger Quiz

Can you tell the difference between being really hungry and simply craving food? Once you learn to distinguish real physical hunger from cravings, you can work on anti-craving techniques. Take this short quiz:

T F 1. Even after a large meal, I still want a dessert.
T F 2. I often have a gnawing feeling in my stomach.
T F 3. When someone mentions food I love, I feel like eating.
T F 4. I feel lightheaded after not eating for hours.
T F 5. When I drive by a fast-food restaurant, I want to eat.
T F 6. There is a time every day when I feel hungry.

Craving and hunger -- your mind and body deceive each other in this regard. When you eat, are you responding to physical hunger or psychological cravings? Situations 1, 3, and 5 usually indicate cravings. Situations 2 and 4 generally indicate true physical hunger. Situation 6 could be either.
