Intensive Outpatient Treatment for Eating Disorders

UPMC Content 3

Who It's For

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) treats patients who have returned to work or school but still require the structure of an evening program to continue recovery.

How Treatment Works

The IOP requires a nine-hour per week commitment and includes:

  • Three-hour sessions, three evenings per week
  • Two groups and one meal session per evening

Participants may move from this into more or less intensive treatment levels.
