Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a very popular, noninvasive cosmetic procedure that uses a pen-like instrument to direct a stream of mildly abrasive crystals and vacuum suction to remove dead layers of your skin. It stimulates the growth of new and healthy skin cells and improves skin clarity.

The treatment also can remove some skin flaws, such as blemishes and sun damage, and allow skin care products to penetrate the lower layers of your skin and be more effective.

Specifically, it can be used to treat or reduce:

  • blackheads and whiteheads
  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • sun-damaged skin
  • acne-prone skin
  • superficial age spots
  • hyper pigmentation
  • oily skin
  • dry or patchy skin

Each treatment takes from 30 minutes to an hour, and multiple treatments are normally recommended. For some patients, a maintenance regimen is recommended at times in order to maximize improvement.

Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types. No anesthesia is required because pain and discomfort are minimal. No recovery time is necessary.
