Center for Women's Digestive Health at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC

The Center for Women's Digestive Health at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC specializes in gastrointestinal disease in women. Because the course, diagnosis, and treatment of these disorders differ from those in men, Magee specialists can offer individualized care.

The center's physicians are equally expert in caring for men with gastrointestinal complaints, treating both men and women at Magee since 2001.

Center gastroenterologists work closely with UPMC surgeons performing minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for treatment of gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD) and morbid obesity. Another focus is on functional bowel disorders, such as:

  • irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • pelvic floor disorder
  • incontinence and defecation disorders
  • pregnancy-related GI and liver diseases
  • IBD and liver disease management in pregnant women

The Center for Women's Digestive Health at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, located in Oakland, specializes in
gender-based differences to meet the unique health care needs
of women. The center is dedicated to the Womancare philosophy, where all women are placed directly at the center of their health care delivery system, enabling them to make informed and educated choices.
