Research
An important part of the CTAD's mission is to advance care in the field of thoracic aortic disease management, through research and development.
At the CTAD, patients have the opportunity to enroll in several local and national clinical or basic science research protocols. Through the Thoracic Aortic Disease Research Lab within the CTAD, our faculty conduct ongoing research of aortic disease that occurs in bicuspid aortic valve patients, with the hope of enabling earlier detection and improving disease management strategies.
In addition to conducting research, CTAD staff members are dedicated to:
- Maintaining and analyzing a comprehensive, prospectively accrued database of patients
- Promoting the study and development of new technologies
- Orchestrating continuing medical education programs with academic symposia and outreach programs, for patients and providers alike
