Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
At UPMC, we hope to make aneurysm follow-up safer and more convenient through the use of pressure sensors and ultrasound.
We are currently one of the only centers in western Pennsylvania using pressure sensors for long-term follow-up of aneurysms after endovascular treatment. If successful, this new technology will eliminate the current, life-long requirement of more invasive CT scans.
Innovative aneurysm technology and treatments
UPMC has been at the forefront of aneurysm technology and treatment in the United States.
- In 1995, our Division of Vascular Surgery was one of only 15 sites nationwide to pioneer the FDA trials for the use of endovascular stent grafts in the treatment of aneurysm disease.
- To date, we have performed over 2,000 of these endovascular stent graft procedures.
- Committed to innovation in endovascular aneurysm treatment, we are part of ongoing clinical trials for second- and third-generation thoracic and fenestrated visceral, tube, and bifurcated abdominal aortic endografts.
