CAT's Team Approach
CAT takes a team approach when working with clients and their families. All members of our team have advanced training in assistive technology and are committed to staying on top of the latest technology.
Team members include:
- Physiatrists are medical doctors (MD or DO) specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation who address medical issues and help clients and patients in making decisions about technology.
- Occupational therapists and physical therapists, that are certified as assistive technology practitioners, analyze needs, help with selecting the appropriate technology, and provide training with selected devices.
- Rehabilitation engineers and rehabilitation engineering technologists are certified providers who use engineering principles to make, customize, and fabricate assistive devices.
- Speech-language pathologists help clients who need augmentative and alternative communication devices.
- Audiologists are professionals who study and evaluate hearing impairment and loss and work to rehabilitate individuals with hearing disorders.
- Vocational rehabilitation counselors are certified counselors specializing in social and vocational integration.
- Assistive technology suppliers and rehabilitation technology suppliers are trained professionals certified by the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America to help with the purchase and service of assistive technology products.
- Clients also are an important part of the team. Because assistive technology affects everyday life, clients and their friends and family are not only part of the decision-making and education process, but are the experts in what works best for the client.
