Other Metastatic Tumors to the Liver

Many cancers besides colon and rectal cancer will spread (metastasize) to the liver. This includes breast, esophageal, gastric (stomach), pancreatic, lung, renal cell carcinoma, and metastatic melanoma. Sometimes, this occurs years after the primary tumor has been diagnosed and treated.

If the tumor is confined to the liver, then many of the same treatment options can be considered as described for management of primary liver tumors or metastatic colon cancer. Most important is a full evaluation to adequately stage the extent of the tumor.
