Many other cancers beside colon and rectal cancer may spread (metastasize) to the liver.

These include:

Sometimes, this occurs years after the primary tumor has been diagnosed and treated.

Neuroendocrine tumors also may occur. These are tumors resulting from cells that release hormones as a response to a signal from the nervous system.
