Medical Nutrition Therapy
Medical nutrition therapy is individualized nutrition counseling that lends support to other medical treatments.
Registered dietitians may be consulted for many conditions, including, but not limited to:
Meeting With A Dietitian
When you meet with a registered dietitian at UPMC, you will receive:
- an in-depth nutrition assessment
- diet analysis
- nutrition education
You must have a referral from your doctor, regardless of the reason why you would like to meet with a dietitian for medical nutrition therapy.
You also may want to call your insurance provider to see if medical nutrition therapy is a covered benefit or if you need a preauthorization before your visit.
