Another treatment method we use at the UPMC Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Center is the well-known Ilizarov Method, originally developed in Russia more than 50 years ago.
The Ilizarov Method of limb lengthening and reconstruction can be used on both adults and children.
The bone segments being treated can be lengthened by 15 to 100 percent of its original length.
