Sleep Medicine Center

Our Experts

All of the doctors at the center are faculty members of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine. They strive to advance pulmonary sleep medicine treatments by taking an active part in pulmonary sleep medicine education and research. In addition to providing sleep medicine education to health care professionals, they offer post-graduate and public education on sleep and sleep disorders.

As part of the center's commitment to education, medical students and resident physicians who receive training in pulmonary sleep medicine, may assist your doctor with your care.

Our doctors:

Nurse practitioners provide care to patients in collaboration with our doctors. They are highly trained in pulmonary sleep medicine and can review your sleep studies, provide strategies in helping use your equipment, and closely monitor your response to therapy in subsequent clinic visits.

Our nurse practitioners:

  • Janet Peterson, MSN, CRNP
  • Shari Rogers, MSN, CRNP, ACNP-BC

Sleep technicians are specially trained in conducting and interpreting sleep studies. Many of the sleep technicians in our lab are also respiratory therapists. They are highly knowledgeable about continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bilevel positive airway pressure ventilation (BPAP) devices and the many different masks/interfaces available. They will be closely monitoring your sleep and breathing patterns during your sleep study in our laboratory.
