From Couch to 5K in 12 Weeks — Start Now
Looking for a healthier lifestyle and better quality of life?
The START program, from UPMC Sports Medicine’s Performance and Research Initiative for Masters Athletes, helps adults over 40 leave the couch behind and move toward fitness.
By the end of this 12-week program of guided physical activity and education, you will be able to run or walk a 5K (3.2 mile) course.
Even better, you will have the tools you need to maintain and improve your fitness in the future.
About the START Program
An experienced team from UPMC Sports Medicine will guide you through the program and provide you with expert:
- fitness training
- medical evaluations
- wellness counseling
- psychological coaching
You will progress through START with a group of your peers, making the workouts fun and the accomplishments shared.
When it Starts
The START program begins with an orientation on Saturday, July 17, followed by regular sessions on:
- Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- Saturdays from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
